Warning to Broxburn residents visiting storm damaged country park
The storm which battered Scotland at the start of the New Year has taken its toll on Broxburn’s nearest country park.
Trees in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park were damaged and Route 75 – the cycling path which passes through the park - was temporarily closed due to fallen foliage.
The park is now open again to the public, though tree work operations are still being carried out.
The council has warned visitors to take care when walking or riding in the vicinity as there are still many fallen trees, fallen branches and debris along access ways.
A spokesperson for West Lothian Council said: “Please refrain from climbing on or walking under fallen trees and avoid all tree operations ongoing in the park.”
The council have asked that if you are thinking about visiting any of the three country parks in West Lothian you should ring the main visitors centre at Beecraigs on 01506 844 516 before doing so.
